How is Tilapia Grilled on Cuisinart Griller?

A Cuisinart grill -- also called a Cuisinart Griddler Grill Centro -- can help you create a healthy entree that is low in fat and high in protein. A 3-ounce tilapia fillet provides 80 calories, 1.5 grams fat and 16 grams protein and is also a source of omega-3 fatty acids. The Cuisinart grill is one of several tools that can help you prepare this nutritious fish.

Preparation

Step 1

Make sure each tilapia fillet is no more than 1 inch thick for proper grilling on the Cuisinart grill. Cut the fillets as needed to achieve this thickness.

Step 2

Prepare the Cuisinart grill for cooking. Use the cooking plate that has one smooth side and one ribbed side for cooking the tilapia.

Step 3

Place the ribbed side of the cooking plate facing upward. Preheat the grill for 10 to 12 minutes on the high setting.

Seasoning

Step 1

Rinse each fillet with cold water, pat dry with a paper towel and set aside.

Step 2

Measure 1 1/2 tablespoon olive oil, 1 teaspoon paprika, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper and put into a medium bowl.

Step 3

Mix olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper in a bowl. Rub the mixture evenly over each tilapia fillet. Set the fillets aside.

Cooking

Step 1

Place both pieces of fish on the grill, at least 1 inch apart. Allow the tilapia to cook for at least six minutes on each side.

Step 2

Run a fork across each side of the tilapia to make sure each side has a flaky texture.

Step 3

Continue cooking each side for one minute if the texture is not flaky, or until each side flakes easily with a fork.
