How are Eggs Cooked in Oven?

Convection ovens are an alternative to conventional ovens that can improve the ease and speed of your cooking. Convection ovens are not microwaves, although some microwaves do use convection to help cook foods. Because a convection oven circulates hot air throughout the cooking chamber, offering more even temperatures than a regular oven, it can produce more consistent cooking outcomes. The quickest way to bake eggs is in a convection oven.

Baked Eggs

Step 1

Preheat your convection oven to 350 F. Allow the interior to heat fully.

Step 2

Break your eggs into a bowl or dish. Add seasonings like salt and pepper, if desired, then set the dish in the convection oven. Close the door to allow the heated air to circulate in the cooking chamber.

Step 3

Continue cooking the eggs for 3 minutes, then rotate 180 degrees and cook them another 3 minutes.

Step 4

Pull your egg from the oven when the white of the egg turns firm and the yolk is still runny. The yolk will continue to cook and harden even after you pull the dish from the oven.

Omelets

Step 1

Preheat a convection oven to 325 F.

Step 2

Pour your omelet mixture into a baking dish. Add other ingredients, such as tomatoes and bacon, if desired.

Step 3

Place the baking dish in the convection oven and allow it to cook for 4 to 5 minutes, or until the cheese in the omelet melts, then remove from the oven and serve.

Tips and Warnings

  • Using a transparent or clear cooking dish will make it easier for you to see when the eggs are fully cooked.
  • Eating undercooked eggs could put you at risk of a foodborne illness. To be completely safe, always cooked eggs so that there are no runny parts.
