How to Reduce Psoriasis?

Psoriasis is a skin condition characterized by itchy, silvery scales that are most commonly seen around the arms, legs, scalp and neck. Psoriasis can be influenced and affected by external conditions, such as diet, stress and environment. These conditions can usually be controlled, which can help psoriasis go into remission.

Increase your intake of flaxseed oil. Flaxseed oil is high in omega fatty acids, which nourish the skin, internal organs and glands to help promote and regulate their proper functioning. This can help the skin maintain a healthy environment, allowing infections and diseases such as psoriasis to subside and suppress. Take 1 to 2 tlbs. of flaxseed oil every day.

Begin a meditation practice. Continual stress can weaken the immune system and allow harmful free radical and bacteria to run rampant in the body. This stressful condition can lead to a host of diseases, including psoriasis, that can be controlled by relaxing the system. Begin a relaxation routine, such as meditating, to relax the body on a daily basis. Using a soft pillow, lay back for at least 30 minutes a day, breathing deeply through your nose.

Try to expose the effected area to more sunlight. Periodic exposure to sunlight helps reduce and suppress psoriasis, and getting at least 30 minutes a day of sun exposure can help reduce psoriasis breakouts.

Use a shampoo specifically formulated to help cause psoriasis to go into remission. Shampoos for psoriasis should contain either salicylic acid or tar, which help reduce and prevent psoriasis outbreaks. Although tar shampoos used to treat psoriasis have a strong, pungent smell, you will only need to shampoo your hair with the tar shampoo once or twice a week to treat the psoriasis.
