3 Places to Find Pirate Adventure Cruises

    • Pirate adventure cruises give kids and adults alike an opportunity to play while sailing past beautiful scenery. Most pirate adventure cruises are decidedly family-friendly, with activities that engage and entertain children. Pirate adventure cruises are seasonal events, and are normally closed through the winter months.

    Florida

    • In Panama City, Florida, Captain "Fearless" Phil and his crew take adventurers on a two-hour escapade aboard the Sea Dragon Mondays through Saturdays from March through October, as of 2010.
The Sea Dragon, an 85-foot red and black ship with two jolly roger flags hoisted high, is equipped with a "kid cannon," a galley complete with drinks, snacks and souvenirs, restrooms and a dungeon in which kids, who are quickly incorporated into the crew, assemble with pirates to discuss the whereabouts of a sunken treasure.
Children are given pirate hats early in the cruise and treasure trinkets after the discovery of a sunken treasure chest. Music plays throughout the cruise, during which participants get a close-up view of Shell Island, curious dolphins, jellyfish and other marine life.
Suitable for children of all ages, Sea Dragon Pirate Cruises offers beautiful scenery, continuous spirited pirate activities for kids and reasonable rates. Discount coupons are available for cruises that leave before 4 p.m.

    North Carolina

    • Pirate Adventures of the Outer Banks' Sea Gypsy departs from Manteo, North Carolina six times daily seven days a week from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Once aboard the Sea Gypsy, children are transformed into curly-mustached pirates or glamorous mermaids through costumes and the application of face paint.
Kids are then recruited to join the crew in its endeavor to best the bad Pirate Pete and find a sunken treasure. The cruise includes a water cannon battle and recovery of a message in a bottle. Rates are reasonable with discounts available on Saturdays, Sundays and for groups.

    Texas

    • The Black Dragon is a 75-foot, black and red replica of a 17th-century galleon that sets sail daily from Pirate's Landing at Port Isabel, Texas. Several two-hour cruises are available throughout the day. Children are given face-paint pirate makeovers and engage in sword fighting, water pistol skirmishes and treasure hunting led by the Black Dragon's crew.
There's a cannon handy in case of attack. Meanwhile, music plays in the background as the ship sails the Laguna Madre. Restrooms, snacks and drinks are available aboard the ship, which has four decks.
