4 Things to Know About Winning a Cruise

Cruises can be especially expensive, whether they go to foreign countries or travel the coastline. Food, drinks, tips and activities add up quickly, especially if airfare is required. With some savvy searching and a few helpful hints, individuals can increase their odds of winning a cruise and avoid scams that would trick people out of hard-earned money.

Search cruise lines for giveaways. Many cruise lines, like Holland America Line, offer contests on their websites. Other tourism websites offer contests as well.
    • 2
Follow the rules. If the contest allows entrants to submit an entry multiple times, do so to increase your chances of winning. Make sure not to go too far, so as to prevent disqualification.
    • 3
Look for scams. Not every contest is on the up and up. Some companies advertise for free vacations, only to use the entry information to sell cruises under the guise of winning a prize. Be wary of giving anyone a credit card number, and ask for specific information, such as dates, cruise lines and hotel names.

Verify cruise lines. Make sure the cruise line is a regulated cruise line with CLIA, Cruise Lines International Association, Inc., which monitors cruise lines and ensures that cruise ships are safe, secure and healthy.
